Report shows dismal performance at KCUSD, with thousands of students below state standards.

School Board Members voted to approve the 2022-23 School Accountability Report Cards which provide various metrics on school campuses and detail the school’s performance on state standards for English, Math, and Science.

The rundown of the district-wide top lines is as follows:

48.56% met or exceeded ELA standards

51.44% did not meet ELA standards

35.64% met or exceeded math standards

64.36% did not meet math standards

27.06% met or exceeded science standards

72.94% did not meet science standards

Each campus throughout Kings Canyon Unified School District receives its own report and board members are required to publish the results every year by February 1.

At the January 23 meeting, Trustees Noel Remick, Sarah Rola, Monica Benner, Robin Tyler, Craig Cooper, and Clotilda Mora voted unanimously to approve the report cards. Nancy Hernandez was absent from the meeting. None of the members provided any remarks on the item.

In addition to the test scores, board members received a presentation from the Reedley High School Automotive Program where several students detailed the positive learning experience they have had in the automotive shop.

Board members also approved a routine purchase order totaling $7,263,007.33. The $7 Million in spending spanned the first twelve days of January and passed unanimously, with no remarks.
